Path of Exile 2
About
Path of Exile 2 is a dark fantasy action RPG by Grinding Gear Games. Each regular league (season) adds new game mechanics and item pools, and characters transfer to the permanent Standard league after a league ends.
Season Structure
PoE 2 has not settled into a fixed league rhythm yet. Our tracked median sits at 19.0 weeks — meaningfully longer than the 14.0 weeks we measure for PoE 1. That gap looks like the cost of a young title still shaping its core content, and there is room for it to tighten. When a league opens, a fresh character starts inside a league-only economy and item pool; when it closes, characters and items move to the permanent Standard league. League-exclusive mechanics then split two ways: the ones that land get folded into the core game, and the rest retire with the league.
How to Check Schedules
Candidly, there is not yet enough here to forecast a schedule. We hold only four completed league intervals, and those four range from 105 to 168 days. The 133-day median exists, but resting on four observations it will shift the moment one league runs long. For this title, waiting on GGG's official announcement beats extrapolating from past cadence. Worth noting: PoE 1's 322-day gap in 2024 happened because resources moved here — and as long as both games share a studio, a major update on one side can push the other's schedule.
Season History
Launched in 2024, PoE 2 is still settling into its own league rhythm, and we have tracked 5 leagues so far. Early gaps between leagues have run long — the median sits near 133 days, and the most recent completed league, The Last of the Druids, ran a full 168 days. As a young title, that pace may well tighten over time.
Who It's For
PoE 2 is a strong pick if you want to sink into intricate item systems and deep build planning. It suits players chasing the thrill of testing fresh mechanics each league, as well as anyone who wants to start free and grind all the way into a sprawling endgame.
